My little princess and I had a little date.. it was a girls day out with Aunt Heather & cousin Autumn but they got sick so it ended up being just the two of us. I love spending time with my sweet girl. We went to Tracy Aviary. I haven't been there since... well I can't remember... its been that long.

We got to see lots of beautiful birds, and I got to spend some quality time with my baby girl.

Elly walked up to the flamingos and she started standing like this... on one leg like them.. then she saw I was taking a picture so she had to pose.

This was our beautiful backdrop to our drive home!

And whats the only way to end a proper date... with some yummy ice cream! Thanks Elly for a fun day!

Runin With New Friends!

I was so lucky to be able to take a quick little weekend vacation with my little sister! I love how much closer we have become over the last few years. Some things do get better with age ha ha. We headed out to the airport nice and early to catch our flight to LAX.

From the minute that we got on the plane our flight atten-dant decided that he was going to pay extra special attention to my beautiful little sister. He made sure to tell her that there was someone for sure in California that would date her... yeah like that would be a problem she would have anyway... that is if she weren't already HAPPILY married.

The reason that we decided to take a trip to California was to meet this awesome girl.. and of course her amazing mom! A while back I started Spark People to help me on my "Get Healthy" journey and I was very fortunate to become friends with Crissy. We started training for a 5K together and so we went there to run a 5k with her and then she was going to return the favor and come to Utah in December to run a 5k with me! So Crissy and Maria picked us up at the airport, we got loaded up and headed out to Del Mar!

We became closer friends instantly!

We of course had to make a quick stop by the ocean!

Did a little writing in the sand to my loves at home!!!

Played in the ocean and got lots of fun pictures. Here we were getting our picture taken and all the sudden the very cold ocean water was around our ankles.

It was really fun to walk the beach and collect a few shells.

Took a quick run on the beach... or did we ha ha ha...K I'm a dork.

But all too soon it was time to leave the beach so we could get to the hotel and then pick up our race packets.

We got to see lots of the beauty of the area! Maria and Crissy took us down the coast and it was a gorgeous day!

Once we checked into the hotel it was off to the expo to get our race packets. We walked over to the fair grounds...

This was what we got to look as as we were waiting for our ride over to the exp.. isn't it lovely!

We knew there were celebrities there but Heather and I never expected this... Brad Pitt holding Heathers hand... and um touching my hair? These machines were so funny/fun they jiggled! ha ha ha and made all of us jiggle!

Then headed back!

The next morning bright and early we got up and got ready for our run... it was pouring rain! Crissy made us these awesome shirts!

All ready to run...well almost!

First a quick trip to Target cause I needed a shirt to go under my other shirt cause I didn't have a jacket to run in this crazy wet weather. We got there before it opened so we were patiently waiting outside...

Heather hopped up onto one of the balls and looked so graceful... so I thought hey I'll try that...

Finally its almost race time! It was a really frustrating beginning.. I felt bad for Maria and Crissy, this was there first race and it wasn't very well organized!

And we're OFF!

Oh it was WET...

Man this picture didn't do our feet justice.. we were SOOO muddy! It was nice that the rain let up as we started and just started up again as we were finishing.

Boy when in started back up it was coming down hard!

Got to see this beautiful building! Did a little shopping, found a sweatshirt cause I accidentally forgot my coat and we were wet and cold! Then we headed back to our hotel... the rain stopped and Heather and I went for a little walk down to see the ocean, it was so nice, but my camera was dead sorry... We walked over to Rubios and got some dinner and lucky me yet again got a chicken bone in my food. (we were back in the room again and I pulled my camera off the charger)

After running.. and walkin all around and bein cold we decided it would be nice to relax in the hot tub for a little while. OH it was great!

Then Crissy and I hopped in the pool caused she challenged me to a race! Can you Guess who won?

Then time for a little more fun and games!

We got up Sunday morning and it was a gorgeous day, Crissy and Maria showed us a few more sites on our way back to LA..

Then a yummy stop to Casa Gamino for some delish mexican food.

Then we hit up the flea market... it was quite easily one of our favorite stops!!! hum.. why do they call it the flea market?

It was finally time to fly back home.. I'll have to tell you the whole story later, lets just say lots of tears and a day later we actually made it home!

We were able to attend a wedding of a son of Bens old Scout Master from back east. It was beautiful and we had so much fun!! Jonah was hittin on all the little girls it was quite hilarious!

Yesterday Jake got home from class and he had 2 pictures in his bag that I knew he did not draw so I asked him about it and he told me kind of embarrassed, "Oh yeah, one is from Morrighan and one is from Emma they drew me pictures during free choice today." Humm do you see a reoccurring theme in these pictures... a boy and a girl holding hands... ha ha.. When I told him he was a little stud muffin he turned all red and said, "I AM NOT MOM!"

Emma by the way is the one that Jake has a crush on. He was most pleased that he got this picture. When I asked him about hers specifically he said, "I think she likes me :)"

Snow Angels

Ever since it snowed on Saturday Elly has wanted to get out and do Snow Angels... well we had everything but boots for her so we went on a hunt and it was a hunt! We finally found some though and while Jake was at school on Monday we spent a little time outside. She made as many snow angels as there was room to do so! Jonah wasn't so keen on the laying back and wiggling in the snow.

Afternoon in Park City

Heather was working up in Park City again this weekend and so she invited us up for a little Rock Band with Richie and a yummy lasagna dinner.

Here is Adorable Autumn!

Jake was being so sweet with Jonah, he kept putting his arm around him and giving him kisses it was so cute, but I kept missing it cause every time he saw me get my camera out he'd stop. I did happen to get the tail end of this kiss on the head. Jonah was full of silly smiles!

Jake started out on the drums while Richie got ready to play. Jonah wasn't so sure about singing....

I spent most of my time on the guitar.. man I am not good at this game, I need some major practice ha ha ha. Once Richie joined us Jake took a turn on the guitar so Richie could have a turn on the drums.

We are one rockin band!

Me and my beautiful sister! We all spent a little time outside, but it was so stinkin cold I thought I was gonna freeze to death. It didn't seem to bother the kids quite as much.

Squatters Chasing Tail 5K

My friend Jessica was running this 5K and she asked if I would run it with her. I hadn't seen her forever and thought it would be fun. When I first heard that it was supposed to snow this weekend I was so very bummed because I was not looking forward to running on or in the snow. Last night as I was driving home and it began to rain I just hoped that it would not go any further and clear up just long enough for me to run today... no such luck. I woke up to nearly 6 inches of snow but I decided OH WELL I AM DOING THIS! I met Jess at Wheeler Farm not quite sure what to expect, got signed in and waited to get this run started. I so held her back, but she stayed with me and helped push me. So despite the snow, the cold, the wet, the mud, the rocks, the fogged glasses, the ups and downs of the course... I DID IT! 53:30 I really just can't wait till I can get a better time.. just gotta keep workin it!!!! I really hate this picture, I swear after I run my face is huge ha ha... but oh well...

Park City Get Away!!

Ambler Fam Birthday Get Together

Wednesday night the Amblers came over and we were able to celebrate my birthday with a yummy dinner! Aunt Heather made some sugar cookies and frosting so we could all have some fun decorating cookies. THE KIDS LOVED IT!

Halloween 2011

This Halloween was a BUSY one! Actually that doesn't really cut it literally I don't think I stopped from the moment I woke up. Got up early and ran to Jazzercise got home in time to quickly get Jake all done up for school. Dropped him off and hauled it home to get the final things ready for his class party and get myself ready.... then run back to the school get set up, do the party, after school get home and get everyone else ready for Halloween, get myself really done up for Halloween, go trick or treating quickly around the neighborhood with some friends, hop in the car and head to NSL for the trunk or treat...Miss the trunk or treat, go visiting to great grandparents, get fed by Gigi, THANKYOU! Trick or treat around the old neighborhood (so much fun by the way!) clean up our mess at Gigi's get back in the car go back to West Jordan, stop at a local haunted house and take a couple trips through FINALLY GET HOME! take a couple more pictures, cut the other side of Jakes hair, bathe the kids and ourselves, FALL INTO BED.... yup that sums it up... Pedometer says 9.89 Miles... is that all? :)

If you look close at Jakes he has stitches all over his pumpkin.. I know I mentioned this in the earlier post, but Jake and el carved these by themselves with no help, I was very impressed and proud of them!

My pride and joy this halloween! It was so much fun to make this prosthesis and get Jake all ready. It was even really fun to take a blow torch to his clothes, very stress relieving ha ha.

Thing 1 is Jakes AWESOME teacher Mrs. VanDenAcker! We had lots of fun at the party making Halloween Hands...

Sorry another closeup shot of his scars! (this was the only way I could get him to let me cut his hair ha ha cause once I had cut one side we had to even it out!)

We also had a CREEPY COLORING station where they colored pictures and got severed finger bubbles. I had to sneekily take a picture of this cute little blonde cowgirl... Jake came up to me a little while ago after school and pulled me down and whispered in my ear he had a secret and made me promise not to tell.... so DON'T TELL HIM I TOLD ha ha... he said, "Mom, I think I'm falling in love with Emma!" Ben was curious to see who Emma was so I had to get a pic. Stephania next to her is a cute girl too and has a major crush on Jake and is very obvious about it.

Jake was ready for his face to breathe by the time it was time to have a little witches brew and get ready to leave! Oh I almost forgot, we also had a ghost story and the kids got to sing their parents some of the fun Halloween songs that they had been learning. I think all n all it was a success!!

Here is my most adorable little tinkerbell! Fabric is expensive, tinkerbell costumes are even more expensive...so what is a cheap mom to do? Well I found a sale on costumes and they had an adult tinkerbell costume for 6 bucks.. guess who ordered it.. Ok I'll tell you, it was me. I fitted it to Elly and we made a few alterations, got some shoes from the DI and after spraypaint, sprayadhesive, glitter, and pom poms they were some fun sparkly tinkerbell shoes! Elly was the perfect tinkerbell!!!

Oh my beautiful baby is growing up too fast!

Can't forget fairy dust, Elly was very excited to get it all over her!

I feel so bad I didn't really get any pictures of Jo, he was a zombie baby. We had a hard time getting him up to the first door but as soon as she answered and gave him candy he decided this was something he could do! He would go to the door with the big kids and when they opened it up he would stick out his hand... they would give him some candy and he would turn around and hand it to Ben who promptly opened it and handed it back. Jonah would eat it on the way to the next house and would be ready for the next handout... We had told the kids to make sure and say thank you and happy halloween as they left well a few houses into it and as they were departing Elly turned around and said THANKS and then began stammering looking for the right words.. then she smiled and said, "Have a nice trick or treating Holiday!" we all laughed. She couldn't remember Happy Halloween so she improvised!

Ben and I were Zombies... I wish the pictures did our makeup justice, with the liquid latex it actually looked so real and we got stopped a few times to tell us how cool our makeup was. Sadie and Easton were mesmerized and right after we had finished and Jake saw me he got very serious and worried and asked me, "Mom why did you cut yourself? ITS ONLY HALLOWEEN!"

Had to take a few shots of the pumpkins all pretty and lit up! It was a busy but WONDERFUL Halloween! Can't wait for next year!!!!

Annual Moosman Pumpkin Carving

This last weekend was the annual Moosman Family Pumpkin Carving at the cabin. Friday evening we braved it through the crazy traffic and made it up to the cabin to start one of our favorite family traditions. We were so excited that Daddy could join us for the evening... he had to head home later that night for work the next morning. Don't let Peters face fool you.. he was having loads of fun!

First thing on the agenda after getting the cars unloaded was COOKIE DECORATING!!

Then we played and had fun till daddy had to leave us so he could get home and we could all go to sleep... like that really ever happens at the cabin.. well good sleep at least :)

The next morning we had a delish breakfast provided by Kathy and Barry! And then it was time to carve pumpkins!

After a few quick shots of course!

Gigi and Grandpa put together a spooky forest for the kids to walk through, Gigi read a fun story as they walked along!

They saw skeletons, ghosts, bats, vampires and more!

They ended at a graveyard and each of the grandkids had a headstone just for them... fun and creepy!

These are Elly and Jakes pumpkins.. they were huge!! And they grew them this year in the garden. Elly carved the top one and Jakie carved the bottom one.. ALL BY THEMSELVES! No Help!

This was so funny Jonah almost knocked over the pumpkin and I told him to be careful and he got all sad and gave the pumpkin a hug to say sorry... And of course what is a trip to the cabin without going to the big rock!!

I only wish my kiddos would have been more happy to take a picture with me.

I even got some lovin while Ben was gone ha ha!

I love my family and I am so very very very grateful for them! Thanks for such a great time!

Earth Angel...

My dear sweet Grandma often referred to as the closest thing to an angel here on earth passed away October 21. She was one of the greatest examples to me and although I am grateful for the knowledge this isn't the end, I will still miss her beautiful face and amazing spirit, her quiet yet powerful testimony, her endless charity and love. Many tears of sadness have been shed over her departure from this life, and many happy tears I'm sure have been shed by those who received her in heaven. Grandma you will be missed and your example will shine on forever. Till we meet again!

While Jakes Away Jonah & Elly will Play!

While Jake goes to school Elly and Jonah have a few hours to bond. A few weeks ago we found a fun little princess scooter and Elly has been very attached to it ever since. We need to find something for Jonah cause the other scooter we have is just sad....

I would try pushing him around but the steering column is stuck so we would just go in big circles... when he didn't want me to help him he ended up pulling the thing around...

This is a phrase that is said a lot around our house lately. OH my goodness he gets into EVERYTHING!!! We'll start this post off though with him being his adorable self... jumpin' on the tramp and smilin' big!

THEN... while I am getting some stuff done.. Disaster strikes!!! He found some Crisco.... and he rubbed it ALL OVER HIS BODY.. in his hair, his ears... ALL OVER!! He was pretty proud of himself.

Turning 30... Lets Run!

Saturday morning I got up bright and early at 5:50 to discover Ben had been called into work at @ and was just arriving home. He assured me that he just needed a 20 min nap and then he would be up so we could get out of there... yeah didn't happen. Anyway after eating a breakfast that made me sick, getting lost, arriving there after it had started, having to run while needing to use the facilities, all in all it was an alright first 5K and a stressful yet wonderful way to start my 30th Birthday!

It was cold... I was fine after a min of warming up, but poor Ben was not equipped to stay warm.

I know I look like a dork in this photo, but I was runnin pretty fast ha ha even Ben couldn't catch me! Why was I running this fast?

Because I saw this in my view!

My Beautiful Grandmother passed away Friday afternoon and we decided to dedicate our first run to her memory. I made some transfers and put them on our shirts to make it official.

We did it!

They had a race for the younger kids around the school and Jake took like 7th out of 25 in his age. Go Jakie!! The rest of the day all the kids wanted to do was run.

Thanks family for being such a great support to me!

This picture was just funny... he has been making these silly faces lately.

Last to cross the finish line was Rome, the reason we did the run in the first place. He is battling with a very aggressive cancer and the funds raised from the 5K will go to help his family with his medical expenses.

This was an awesome experience and I can't wait for the next one! Just a note to self... NO OATMEAL!

Zoo Trip with Autumn & Heather

Piccadilly Circus

I haven't been to a circus in a very very very long time. Well one night while we were out with family at sub zero the kids got a hold of some discount tickets to the Piccadilly Circus. They kept asking me if they could please go, they would do anything if I would just take them to the circus...Well a few days later Groupon posted a deal for the circus and so we snatched it up. It was a fun night, didn't get awesome pics... in fact it was quite hard to get even one good picture.... here are a few of our attempts...

Jonah loved the food.. and as you can see from above Elly was devouring the popcorn.

Jonah had cotton candy EVERYWHERE!

We had lots of fun! Jake said his favorite part was the caged motorcycle riders, Elly loved the dancing princesses and the Elephants, and Jonah loved the treats and the music (he danced a lot tonight!) I love my little family!!

Oh my children are so funny. Ben and I were bustin a gut the other day cause Jonah was being so silly. He walked into the kitchen and saw Ben with some oatmeal and wanted some so he walked up to Ben and opened his mouth as wide as he could and started making noise. Well Ben thought it was so funny we had to get a picture so I ran to get my camera.. but every time I tried to get a picture Jonah would look at the camera and pull the cheesiest face! Which just made us laugh more.

I finally did get him with his mouth open...

But he quickly went back to this adorable thing!

He thought he was so funny that he was getting mommy and daddy to laugh so hard, so he'd just keep doin it and then laugh himself.

I got only one more of his funny feed me face...

He was so proud of himself!

Had to snap a few of my beautiful princess.. After the first one I told her that her eyes were closed and so she opened her eyes as wide as she could and asked me to take another one.

And then Jonah wanted to wear Elly's helmet.. oh our sides hurt!

Fun & Birthdays

We have been doing so much lately, I swear we aren't home very often.We had a really fun night at the classic fun center for FHE one night.. we did lazer tag, had fun in the blast zone, scootered & skated around.. it was a lot of fun! Well this past Sunday night the Moosmans got together at Great Grandpa and Grandma Moosman's for our family dinner in celebration of Mom and my birthdays. I got to bring the dessert... a homemade FROM SCRATCH peach pie... even grew the peaches, and yet another from scratch sugar free raisin cranberry cake that was actually quite good for a sugar free dessert!

We had the awesome opportunity to spend some quality time with Grandma. She was so great that night lots of smiles and she was laughing. Andy walked in at one point during the evening and said, "Grandma, you sure have had a lot of visitors today," to which she quickly responded, "Yeah I can't get rid of them!" And then just started laughing.. we were all laughing she was so funny. It was so nice to see HER again, my beautiful Angel Grandma.

There was a smudge or something on my camera... bummer, but still happy with the pics!

Timpanogos

It has been a few years since I've hiked Timp and the kids really wanted to go through the cave so this weekend we decided to make the trip. We had a great day!

Grandpa had a great time teaching Jake on the way up the trail. He was poking Jake and trying to explain to him why I wanted him to smile for the picture. I love the second one even though Jake is pulling a funny face.. I actually caught the tail end of his eye roll, but I love how happy Grandpa is!

Oh my boy is so handsome! If you look at his teeth you can see that his poor front tooth is dead. He ran right into the back of a truck while on his bike.. hopefully it taught him to look a little more carefully while he is riding.

Red cheeks and all we all made it.. I carried Jo all the way up on my shoulders.. it was very HOT! And not the easiest thing I've done, but I made it!!!

Grandpa and Grandma joined us on our hike and they were a big help!

The entire trip Jake and Elly were filling out packets and interviewing rangers and picking up trash all sorts of stuff to become Jr. Rangers. When we finished our hike they had to come to the rangers and give them their packets and then after repeating the Ranger Oath, they received their badges and certificates!

To The Zoo...

While Abuelito was here Andy and Tiff wanted to take him to the zoo so they called me since I'm cool.. and I can get them in for free ha ha. It was a great time had by all!!

We had lots of fun on the train, at the play place, at the sand pit, on the merry go round! Usually we go for the animals, but this trip the kids wanted to just play.

Turning our Hearts to Our Fathers

When I was first old enough to begin doing baptisms I remember my grandI just wanted to share my awesome experience last night at the temple. This has been such a wonderful thing for me and I appreciate Ben doing it with me. Doing baptisms was great, but I have been looking forward to doing initiatory since I received the names from Grandpa, it is one of my very favorite parts of temple work, I will never forget last night. It was REALLY busy and they would only let me do 5 names at a time well I sat through my first wait and then finally was able to get in and as I listened to those special words I felt the spirit so strong. Well I finished my first round and went out got back on the list to do the last 5 and they told me it wouldn't be as long a wait.. 45 min later and noticing that I had been skipped a few times I went up to find out what was going on and contemplated not finishing this week, but coming back later. They quickly got me going with my second set. Again the spirit was so strong, but as I began the work for Frances who was born in 1813 in Baden Germany and was mother to 4 of the men and two of the women that we were doing work for...I had an overwhelming flood of emotions. I absolutely without a doubt know she was there with me. As I finished her work and sat there waiting for my turn to continue I suddenly felt her arms around me. I just sat there, tears streaming down my face, filled with the spirit. We are so very blessed, so VERY BLESSED to be members of this church, to have an opportunity to do work for those who have passed before and it just meant so much more knowing that these woman had an extra special connection with me. I can't wait to finish the work for these members of our family who have waited so long. I love you all and am so grateful for our incredible family. Have a wonderful weekend!!

Sunday evening after Ambler family dinner we got to go and see my nephew Justin earn a bunch of badges and even advance ranks. Way to go Justin!!

Fall is HERE!

Fall is here! The weather has been beautiful. Oh if only this could last all year long. Andy has had a visitor from Peru here and so they decided that they would take him up to the cabin last weekend. The kids and I left early and decided to hike up to the cabin. We stuck to the road mostly, up till the end, and oh how I wish we would have stuck to the road the whole way up ha ha it was an adventure that's for sure. The last leg of the hike we ran into water and lots of MUD! I was covered in mud almost knee high.. nearly lost my shoes... oh boy it was something. I am so proud of my kiddos they did awesome! Jonah walked about half the way, and really the only reason he didn't walk more was because of the water and the mud. I didn't want him in it. I am also very proud of myself, I did it with relative ease and that was carrying Jonah half of it through the hardest part. Pat on back inserted here. (Not a great picture, but that's ok...)

The fall colors are starting to show up and it provided a beautiful scenic hike. It was also pretty much overcast the entire hike which was awesome.

Jake and El found lots of little treasures along the way... a horse shoe, a couple of sawsall saws, fun stuff like that ha ha

It was all I could do to keep Jonah out of the still damp dirt (thanks to the rain earlier)

Once we finally arrived at the cabin we enjoyed a delish dinner thanks MOM and DAD! And then some fun time around the campfire!

I am so lucky to have such an awesome family!

Abuelito (Andy's visitor) played his harmonica and the kids danced around. Reminded me of our younger days.. I do believe we did the same thing ha ha.. well minus the harmonica, and the Abuelito!

The kids loved being with their cousins!

Jonah of course loved the fire. Abuelitos daughter sent gifts for all my kids. SO GENEROUS! She send these cute little back packs that have their names embroidered on them and a CTR shield but in Spanish HLJ. I got a cool little bag, a neat bracelet, and a key chain. El got the BP and a dolly, it was funny when they pulled it out to give it to her she happily exclaimed, "A WITCH DOLL!" No, just a Peruvian Doll ha ha. Jake got his BP and a cool coin purse. Jo got a BP as well.

Thanks for the invitation Uncle Andy. It was a wonderful evening and you skilled us all with your amazing talent for making marshmallows.

Silly Jake & Visit From Friends

We have such great friends. It was so much fun to be able to spend some time last weekend with some amazing people. Jon and Rachel are so much fun and we were lucky to be able to have them over for dinner and some enlightening conversation. Plus we got to see their adorable baby boy!! Thanks for coming over guys we need to do it again really soon.

12 Minutes

Yesterday was the first day of week 6 - 5K training...I started a personal test a week or so ago that after my scheduled training I would just run/jog until I couldn't any more.. just curious to see how far I could go. Well I have steadily been progressing.. 4 - 6- 8 but yesterday I managed to do 12 minutes! My legs ached for the rest of the day but I was so excited!!! In five weeks I have gone from huffing and puffing through just a one minute jog to 12 minutes!!! Wahoo for me! I am trying really hard not to focus on the scale and focus more on the accomplishments that are happening for me in my much more active lifestyle. I was talking to my hubby yesterday about my excitement and I was commenting on how one of my biggest motivating factors was that I wanted to be a fun mommy and my wonderful adorable 5 year old yelled from the other room, MOM YOU ARE A FUN MOMMY! It made me smile, but I know I have far to go. I don't want this weight to hold me back any more from all the new things I can be doing with my kids and my hubby. I don't want them to ever feel all the hurt and frustration in their lives that comes with excessive amounts of weight... especially because their mommy was a bad example and never taught them to be active and fit. I want to be a good example in my kids lives. I want them to know that working out and staying fit is a good and fun thing. My family... MOTIVATION! 12 minutes is going to look like nothing soon, no one can stop me!

Toilet Water EW!

While I was booking a flight for my little sister I heard some splashing... What, where was there enough water to splash. I hopped up to see what was going on and to my horror I found this...

Why Jonah? Why must you love water so much that you will wade in the toilet to be in it. He was put directly into the bath, but it was just too funny to pass up a photo op.

Utah State Fair 2011

We had a great time at the Utah State Fair this year and hopefully will be able to go for another round this week. When we got there we only had about 45 minutes to walk through the animals before the rodeo started so Heather and me & the kids did a quick once over.

Then it was off to the Rodeo.. I don't remember ever going to a rodeo.. I know for sure though that it was my kids first Rodeo and it was a lot of fun. Sorry about all the pictures I had a hard time narrowing it down to just these ones. If you want to see any bigger remember you can click on them.

I know this picture is blurry but I still thought it was cool.

The whole reason for going to the rodeo was because Easton had signed up for Muttin Busting. I really wish they would have done it first when the lighting was better... but Easton was so brave and we are so proud of him!!

He is so dang cute, he had a cowboy hat to go along with his cute outfit! He won a muttin bustin belt buckle. GO EASTON! My kids are itchin to do it next year!

Regroup, Refocus, Recommit

I am doing well.... I'm working out everyday, being more active with my kids, I am down 20lbs in 5 weeks, thats a 3.7 drop in my BMI! I was eating better at first and I'm still better than I was, all of this is wonderful and it makes me happy.... but I need to regroup, refocus, and recommit!

My last run in my week 5 of 5K training was hard, I almost wanted to quit... as I run I just think to myself, I CAN DO IT... SMART SEXY SLENDER.. I know I know its stupid, but for some reason it keeps me going. I just keep repeating it in my head. Well when I got home I was trying to think as to why it was so much harder than it has been and I came to the conclusion that although I am still working out amazingly and hitting my caloric range and such.. the way I have been hitting my range lately has not been the best. I haven't been eating as many veggies, which is crazy cause I love them... and I've been having too many quick foods. Not anything NEAR what I used to, but they are beginning to creep back in. So this week I am regrouping, refocusing, and recommitting....

Goals for this Week

Eat 4 servings of VEGGIES a day
Stay in my food ranges
Complete week 6 of 5K training TTHS
Cross Train MWF
Do Something Active With My Kids 4xs
Lose 1-2 LBs
Do at least 1 Thing JUST FOR MYSELF

I am doing this, This time I am going to reach my goal and nothing is going to stop me! Thank you all for your continued support, I NEED IT!

Kindergarten, IT STARTS!

My first baby has just entered the public school system. He has been so excited to go to kindergarten and before I know it I'm sure he'll be graduating college... but we'll focus on this year :) He did awesome and couldn't wait to get going! Have a great day buddy!!!

ha ha I don't know exactly what has gotten into me, but I am so excited.... and of course terrified, but SO EXCITED! So I have my first 5k coming up here in just 6.5 weeks and so while training with a new friend from Spark People, decided that one 5k this year just isn't enough. So October I'll be running the 5K Cake Walk/Run, November I will be in Del Mar, CA doing the Head To Toe Womens Expo 5K, and then in December I will be doing the Santa Run 5k in Provo

Soldier Hollow Classic Sheepdog Championship

Yesterday we went up to midway with Mom & Chelle, Matt, Heather, Autumn, & Richie to see the Soldier Hollow Classic Sheepdog Championship. We were greeted by some bagpipers.... Jake was plugging his ears and got a few chuckles out of some of the people standing there listening.

It is pretty amazing what these animals can do!

The kids were of course fascinated by the sheep. We are looking forward to the state fair next weekend!

There was a little playground there and so I got to watch the kiddos for a little bit while everyone else watched the sheep herding dogs....

Everyone that is except Jake who was fascinated by all the grasshoppers everywhere and insisted that he needed to catch a few.

And that is exactly what he did!

On the way out Jake and El wanted to take a picture by the Olympic structure.

We headed back to Park City with Heather, Matt, Autumn & Richie and hung out and played some Rock Band. Had a little dinner and went on a beautiful walk. I really wish I would have remembered my camera for the second half of the day. Thanks Heather for inviting us up to have some fun with you guys. Thanks Mom for getting us into the show!

Bike Ride

So the kids and I decided we wanted to go on a REAL bike ride on Friday. We got everyone ready and in the trailer and started pulling the bike around and much to our dismay my front tire was flat.. well after about 30 min and a quick tube change, I had the bike ready and we tried again. Elly and Jonah were quite excited.. can't tell here right ha ha .

We biked over to Arctic Circle and then the kids played on the playplace for a little while before it was time to head back home.

El fell asleep on the way home, wouldn't that be nice!

Bike Ride

Ok I can't remember the last time I have ridden a bike.. sad I know... literally it must have been elementary school. Well in my pursuit to fitness, I acquired a bike trailer and my amazing hubby found a free bike and has been fixing it up for me. I've been waiting patiently and tonight he finished it! (As you can see in the background there are bike parts strewn about the side of our house ha ha)So of course we had to take it for a spin it was only 10 min, but still... I was a little nervous like I said, its been a while.. but it was great and hard! The kids were helping daddy fix up their own bikes so we can go on a real bike ride tomorrow! YEAH!

Jake took the picture above of El and I.. I asked Ben to take a picture of me and Jake and Elly (Jo was asleep).... lets just say he has so many other amazing skills.. picture taking doesn't seem to be his strongest skill ha ha.. but thanks for the effort Ben!

Tuesday Fun!

One of my very very very favorite people in the whole world has been visiting here in Utah this summer and it has been so much fun to spend time with her.. unfortunately I have neglected to have my camera with me when these visits have occurred. Well they came up to visit Tuesday afternoon and I finally remembered to bring my camera. Jake had assessments at his school so we walked over and played on the playground for a little bit and then Joce like the wonderful person that she is watched Jo and El while I went in with Jake. After we played a little bit more and then walked home. Everyone was getting hungry so we hopped in the car and headed to Carls Jr. and had a quick bite and played some more. Thanks Jocelyn for coming up, bringing your cute boys and having fun with us!

Bring It On September

Down 4 lbs this last weigh in! That makes 11.5lbs...Wahoo, if only every week were so kind on the scale. I know not to be so consumed with what the scale says, but it still feels good to see that number drop!

Week 4 of 5K training.. I know to most its a little thing, but being able to run for 3 min straight is a huge deal, I've even a few times run 5 min continuously... to think that just 4 weeks ago when I started this I struggled to hit my 1 min mark. Its so exciting and I feel so good. Now if I could get the rest of my life in balance ha ha!

My goals for this week -
MWF - at least 30 min of cardio/strength training
TTHS -5K training
Get out and do something active with my kids at least 5x's this week.
Track my food
Lose 1-2Lbs
BE HAPPY!

August was great, but September is going to be even better!

We have tried corn 2xs previous to this year with not much success.. we have gotten beautiful stocks, but the corn left us wanting thats for sure.. well this year has been totally different. We have already gotten quite a few delicious big ears of corn much to my children's delight!

Summer Storms

We have had so many storms this summer, and the last little while we have had lots of lightning storms. Well last night after FHE as we were driving home we pulled over for a min to try and get a few shots of the lightning over Antelope Island.. man its hard to photograph lightning ha ha ha.. If you click on the image on the left and look over the building I got 2 big streaks of lightning.. the one on the right is blurry, but still ok :) I need practice. ha ha ha

By the time we made it near home it was pouring rain... POURING... by the time I got the kids in the house I was completely SOAKED to the bone.. and the lightning was right over our house.. It would be a lie if I said I wasn't a little scared...but after getting all dried off all the kids (to scared to sleep alone with the noise) and I piled into my bed and went to sleep.

Splash Pad!

Aunt Heather & Autumn invited us out to have some fun at the splash pad near her house. How could we refuse.. family and FUN! Tiff and her kids were there too.. SCORE!

As I was taking pictures I saw this rainbow through the water... Elly just so happened to run through the shot as I took it.. how perfect is that!

After we were done with the water fun, we went over to Aunt Heathers and had some dinner and helped her with her talk for Sunday while the kids played. Can't beat fun weekends with family!

Sunday afternoon we made our way to Woods Cross and NSL to deliver some items that we had borrowed from different family members and ended up at Aunt Heathers house. She fed us a yummy dinner full of things from her garden, we went on a little walk to the park and the kids played with Autumn...

When it was time for Bed Heather put this adorable night gown on Autumn and she kept pulling it off and playing with it, it was pretty funny!

Faith of A Five Year Old...

The other day Jake was outside with his friend Mikey.. well the next thing I know he is bursting through the doors with big tears coming down his face. He had taken his snake outside...against my warning.. and he had lost his snake.. he asked for my help finding him and as we were walking back outside, me very doubtful of recovery, he turned to me and said, "Mom, I said a prayer to Heavenly Father and I KNOW we WILL find him!" I tried to help him understand that it was near impossible.. he had been gone for over 5 min and he was a little snake.. there wasn't much chance we were going to find him. Jake kept assuring me that his prayer would be answered. As I was looking Jake kept telling me all we had to do was mow over the area and we would find him.. Sure Jake.. if we mow, and the snake is there it will suck it up and...well no more alive snake anyway, but again he insisted.. So I grabbed the lawn mower.. the snake being gone now nearing 10 min. I began to mow and hadn't gone but a few yards when I saw that little snake make a break for it to the side of the fence... NO WAY! I bent over picked him up and turned around to show a very happy little boy his snake. "See Mom, I told you my prayer would be answered." He then knelt down with the snake and said a prayer to Thank Heavenly Father for helping him find his snake. That will show me... don't doubt God's power even over seemingly inconsequential things. Can't beat the faith of a five year old!

Ambler Family Campout

This year we were lucky to get into Jolleys Ranch last min for a quick end of summer Ambler Family camping trip. The food was great! And I hope fun was had by all.

Oh the yumminess!! We had a dutch oven dinner & dessert. Chicken, Cheesy Potatoes, Zucchini & Yellow Squash, Watermelon.. and to finish it all off.. the best Peach cobbler Ever! Arol summed it up well, "Amy I can't believe we are eating like this in the wilderness!" We had some cobbler left over crazy I know right.. but we shared with some of our neighbors and they were very very happy!

Jonah really loves the outdoors.. and he apparently didn't mind wearing the suit mother nature gave him..

My handsome nephew! And of course Unc always has the most fun gadgets!

Cute little Peter loved the peach cobbler too!

And of course you can't camp without a fire! These Ambler boys had fun getting it going! Jonah had been playing in the water and dirt and his diaper was sagging... Ben kept calling it his loin cloth.. cause that's what it looked like.. and yes we did change it :)

You can't escape Math at an Ambler family event...

The next morning after my run, which was awesome up in the woods! I made everyone breakfast and Arol again summed it up, "Amy, I can't camp with you often." "Why not Arol" "I would get fat!" Love that he loved my cooking!

Jonah thought it was so funny to get in the dog cage...

We of course had to make a trip over to the water to play for a little bit. Before we left Jake and his master catching skills snagged a little garter snake.. and much to mommies dismay daddy let him bring it home and it currently resides in our kitchen... we are going to be relocating him soon I hope!

Best Motivation Ever

Walkin

With all of our walking lately we have had to find new exciting places to go. Well for quite some time now my kids as we pass the walkway over Bang. HWY always ask, "Mom, when can we walk there?" A few days ago we decided to do it. And we've done it a few times since then as well. I love seeing the kick my kiddos get out of standing over all those cars.

We do a mid stop at Carls Jr. and play for a little while.. tonight I treated the kids to an Oreo shake.. the original plan was to grab them cones.. but wouldn't you know it, Carls Jr. Doesn't do cones. Oh well, the kids shared one... I didn't have one cause I am trying not to have as much sugar.. well my adorable Jakie when we got home whipped me up a fruit smoothy while I was getting Jonah ready for bed and brought it to me so I could have a treat too. Sweet boy! It was really yummy too!!

Worms...

He was bored.. well he decided after being in the box long enough to bring in his worm collection... Strawberries, Raspberries, & Wrestling

Early this evening when it started to cool off the kids and I took some Strawberries outside to have a little snack. We climbed up onto the trampoline and El and I sat in the center as Jonah ran around us giggling... he really thought it was somethin else ha ha! Elly taught me "the right way to eat a strawberry is by carefully taking off the green part and then you can enjoy!"

Lots of loves.. and of course can't get away without classic grumpy Jonah face...

Then the raspberries started... Elly had Jake laughing so hard he was drooling.. it was quite entertaining!

Then all the kids started wrestling.. I don't know how this little dogpile happened, but poor Jonah! He didn't seem to mind too much..

El is quite the little monkey and she wanted to show off her climbing skills...

All this fun is exhausting :)

Heathers Birthday Dinner

We celebrated Aunt Heathers birthday yesterday at Mom & Dad's. Dinner was wonderful, the company was great. I passed up cake... oh it was hard!
After dinner was over Grandpa and I went on a little adventure hike with the kids minus Jonah, he had no shoes.. and Autumn cause she had gone home... Look at this picture of Elly's feet.. can you tell me what is wrong with this picture.. ha ha ha. Sadie found a little snail that she thought was so cool!

We hiked up a very very very steep trail...

Its great to have cousins! Sadie is so funny.. I was trying to get a picture of Easton and he refused to stop or look up at me so Sadie says - "Aunt Amy you can take a picture of me I will be a panda eating bamboo..." and she started chomping on this branch...

Quick Visit with Daddy!

Yesterday after our cake/cupcake crafting we stopped by to see Daddy and Tony at work. Tony had brought some treats for the kids and we hadn't seen him in a while so we thought we would stop by and say hi. Well we got there right after he left, just missing him.. DARN! But it was ok cause we still got to see our good lookin daddy!

When we got inside we encountered some strange beings.. ha ha ha..

We love visiting Daddy at work! We brought a cupcake for Tony, but since he wasn't there we gave it to Daddy instead.

Its All About The Cake...

A while ago we got this giant cookie cake pan on clearance and the kids have been begging me to make a cake with it. Well what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than baking right!

Jonah got some of the pieces of red velvet that we had to cut off to make the cookie flat... it was of course all over his face.

As if one cake weren't enough.. the kids really wanted to decorate, and the cookie cake didn't let them express their talents so we whipped up a batch of funfetti cupcakes and some frosting and the kids went right to work!

We got to share them with our family! YUMMY YUMMY!

Sticky Mess... One week down never ending to go

Utah Koi

Utah Koi here, hired me to do a cake for their small seminar. Everything that could go wrong did and so the cake didn't turn out as I had pictured, but it will do :)

This is Michaeal Hernandez of "A Touch of Japan" he flew in from Japan and was the main speaker for the seminar.

Jake loves the Koi and so was excited to be able to see them for a minute before we had to leave.

So the other day I was sittin there and Jonah walks up to me with a cup and holds it up to one of my um.. ladies? :) I laughed and said, "Sorry Jonah that's not how it works." He gave me one of his grumpy Jo faces and I took the cup and put a little water in it and handed it back to him. He took the cup, looked in it, looked at me and then threw the water at me. Apparently that is not the drink he wished for.

Return of the Dragon Fly

Jake ran in telling me that he had found the same dragon fly we had seen at Aunt Heathers a while back... after convincing him that it wasn't the same one.. he decided that they had to be brothers. He asked Elly if she wanted to hold it and she was worried about it stinging her. He very cutely taught her about how dragonflies don't sting. He continued to coax her into holding it and once he was successful I could hear him in the other room, "Oh Elly, I am so proud of you!"

A Lovely Summer Evening...

Our little family worked together on our yard this evening.. front, back, garden. Just a few things growing in our Garden...

Ben would bring the grass clipping and dump them in the garden, the kids love to help us spread them around (natural weed control) and of course play in them!

Jonah loves the lawn mower, he tries to start it and tonight he turned it into a swing. He grabbed onto the handle and lifted his feet and swung back and forth.

I love my amazing hubby and my adorable crazy children!

Midnight Cookies

So for some odd reason Ben decided that at 11:00 that he wanted chocolate chip cookies.. So he got to work and a little while later he and Jonah... who would not go to sleep last night... enjoyed some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies! Crazy yummy!

Paint & Fire!

Oh the joy of little kids who can't keep their hands out of things. This evening while painting the shed Jonah managed to get into a gallon of paint get it all over his hands.. and I'm not sure why he does this, but whatever he gets all over his hands he rubs all over his head... Needless to say we had a painted baby on our hands. He was not happy with me trying to take pictures of him, it was hard to get him to look at me and when he did he was scowling at me!

After we got Jo cleaned up and were done painting for the night, we had to have a little fire.. of course.. my pyro men! Our poor fire pit is quite dead... we have used it to death... fire is a regular thing at our house.

Ben teaches them young to handle fire... much to mommies dismay! They love it!

And then there is my adorable little girl who sits, smiling.. watching those crazy boys! And yes Aunt Heather that is the shirt you put on her yesterday.. she loves it so much she asked to wear it just one more time :)

5K, Aunt Heather & Funny Kids

Today I did my first day of training for my 5K, I felt I could have done more, but I'm gonna stick to the routine so as not to over do it. It went well and I am really excited!

My little sister Heather had her birthday today and so this afternoon/early evening we went over to her house and shampooed her carpet for her. Then we hung out and played and had dinner with her! It was a fun evening. Happy Birthday Heather, we love you!!!

And last but not least, I hadn't written this down yet so I wanted to get it documented cause it was quite funny. Jake and El came in to talk to me and Jake says, "Mom, I think you are going to be pregnant soon." Me- "Oh really?" Jake- "Yeah" Elly- "But Mom this time could you have two babies so me and Jake don't have to share?" We'll see what we can do you silly kids!
